About B.H. College Assam
B.H. College was founded in 1964 by Late Jadav Chandra Das and Abdul Kader Choudhury, following a public meeting in Howly led by Mohanlal Choudhury, where it was decided to establish the college to meet the local demand for higher education. The first general public meeting to discuss the college’s establishment took place on June 12, 1964, chaired by Kamal Chandra Majumdar.
The college started with an Arts faculty in 1966. Thanks to the dedication and sacrifices of the local community, it has grown into a well-known institution in Assam. It added a Commerce Stream in 1973, a Science Stream in 1988, undergraduate Science courses in 1996, postgraduate Commerce courses in 1990, and postgraduate courses in Assamese and Education in 2018.
B.H. The college received UGC recognition in 1969 and was accredited B++ by NAAC in 2003. During its second NAAC assessment cycle in 2015-16, the college earned an ‘A’ grade with a CGPA of 3.11 on May 25, 2016.
The college excels academically and provides a supportive environment, particularly serving the educational needs of local youth from farming and low-income backgrounds. Under the leadership of Principal Sri Satya Nath Das, the institution has successfully adapted to the evolving demands of higher education.
