The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued new rules for updating Aadhaar cards. They have released new forms for both resident individuals and non-resident individuals (NRIs) to use for enrolling or updating their Aadhaar cards.
Aadhaar Card Update New Rules
- If you only know your birth year (without proof) or have an approximate birth year, only the birth year will be shown on your Aadhaar card.
- To have your full date of birth printed, you need to provide a document that proves it.
- You can get an Aadhaar card or update its details through document verification or by having the Head of Family (HoF) confirm your details.
- If using the HoF method, the HoF must provide their Aadhaar details and sign Form 1.
- If an NRI (Non-Resident Indian) provides a non-Indian phone number, they won’t get any SMS/text messages according to Form 1 guidelines.
- For NRIs, only a valid Indian passport is accepted as proof of identity.
